Terms of use
Effective 2026
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the Anchor Mate Android app and its online services (crew over the internet and this website), provided by Maritime TOP Ltd. By using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
2. Important safety notice
Anchor Mate is an aid to keeping an anchor watch. It is not a navigation instrument, a safety device or a replacement for good seamanship and a proper watch. The app depends on GPS reception, the phone's battery and operating system, mobile networks, push notification services and other third-party services, all of which can fail, be delayed or be interrupted without warning.
You remain solely responsible for the safety of your vessel, its crew and others. Do not rely on the app as your only means of detecting a dragging anchor.
3. The service
The anchor alarm works on your phone. Crew over the internet requires an internet connection and our server. Crew over Nearby (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) connects the phones directly. We aim to keep the online services available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features.
4. Premium subscription
The boat app is free. A crew phone needs a Premium subscription, purchased through Google Play on that phone, to follow a boat over the internet. Crew over Nearby is free. Prices, billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Google Play under its terms. You can cancel at any time in Google Play; the subscription then remains active until the end of the paid period.
5. Invite codes and links
Your boat's crew QR code and invite link give access to your boat's position and alarm state. Invite links stop working after 6 hours or one join, and you can stop sharing a link at any time. Crew who joined stay in your crew until you remove them or they leave. Keep codes and links confidential and share them only with people you trust. You are responsible for activity through codes and links you share.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- access or try to access boats, data or devices that are not yours or that you are not authorised to use;
- interfere with, overload or disrupt the online services, or try to bypass their security or limits;
- reverse engineer the online services or use them to build a competing service;
- use the app or services unlawfully.
We may suspend access to the online services for anyone who breaks these rules.
7. Intellectual property
The app, the online services and this website, including their software, text, graphics, sounds and trademarks, belong to Maritime TOP Ltd or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose.
8. Third-party services
The app uses services of third parties such as Google (Maps, Firebase, Play and Nearby). Their use is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or websites linked from the app.
9. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, the app and services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of positions or timely delivery of alarms and notifications.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage, including damage to vessels or property, personal injury, or indirect or consequential loss, arising from the use of or inability to use the app or services, including missed, delayed or false alarms. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We will publish the new version on this page; continued use after the change means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
