Effective 2026

1. Who we are

The Anchor Mate app and its online services are provided by Maritime TOP Ltd(“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: hi@maritime.top.

2. What stays on your phone

The anchor alarm works on your phone. Your GPS positions, anchor positions, movement history and settings are stored on the device and are not sent to us unless you use one of the online features listed below. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.

3. Data we process when you use online features

Live data passes through the server and only the most recent message is held in memory. The crew list is kept until the boat removes a member or the member leaves the crew. For each boat the server also keeps its name, when it first and last connected and whether an anchor watch is on. Crew linked over Nearby (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) connect phone to phone and do not use our server.

Server operationIP address and technical connection data in server logs; installation IDs are shortened in logsSecurity, abuse prevention and troubleshooting

The installation ID is a random identifier created by the app. We do not ask for your name and do not need an account.

4. Legal bases

Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process data to provide the features you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and for the security and operation of our services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interests).

5. Service providers

  • Google Firebase: push notification delivery (Cloud Messaging) and crash reports (Crashlytics). The app has no analytics or advertising SDK and does not use the Advertising ID.
  • Google Maps: map display. Map requests include the area you are viewing.
  • Google Play: subscriptions and payments. We do not receive your payment details.
  • Hosting provider: operation of our server.

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep data

  • Crew members, their roles and push tokens: until the boat removes them, they leave the crew, or deletion on request.
  • Boat name, connection times and watch state: deleted together with the crew list after 12 months without a connection from the boat phone.
  • Push tokens: until they are replaced or reported invalid by Firebase.
  • Shared crew invite links: usable for 6 hours and for one join, or until the boat stops sharing them; then deleted 30 days after they expire.
  • Feedback messages: 12 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Crash reports: 90 days (Firebase Crashlytics).
  • Server logs: up to 30 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, write to hi@maritime.top and include your boat name so we can find your data. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

8. Security

Connections between the app and our server are encrypted (HTTPS/WSS). To join, a crew phone needs either the QR code currently shown on the boat phone (a new code is made each time the crew screen is opened or closed) or a shared invite link, which is valid for 6 hours and one join and must be approved by the boat owner. Up to 10 crew per boat. Anyone who has your boat's current QR code or invite link can follow your boat, so share them only with people you trust.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always available on this page. See also our terms of use.
